Visiting 3rd Grade

Today was our last full day of 2nd grade and we thought a trip next door to 3rd grade would be a great way to transition our students from 2nd to 3rd grade. They got to tour both 3rd grade classrooms as well as ask questions and have both the 3rd graders and 3rd grade teachers answer them. They looked pretty small in those big 3rd grade desks, but we know they will fill them well come August.

We have enjoyed teaching your children each and every day and hope you have a safe and relaxing summer.

Correction!

The end of the school year Mass is at 9:00 AM, instead of 9:30 AM like our newsletter stated.  Sorry for the inconvenience.

Zoo Field Trip

We had a fabulous trip to the zoo!  Our students got to see all of the animals that they are researching. This was a great way to get some first-hand experience with their animal's behavior.

Shaving Cream Multiplication

Today we practiced showing groups of numbers in Math to help us visualize multiplication. The kids had a great time and were able to show us that they really understand multiplication!

Extreme Weather Reports

As we are wrapping up our unit on weather we are excited about our extreme weather reports. Here are some pictures of the students recording their videos in front of a green screen. We will post the final products towards the end of the week!

2nd grade service work

"Do not think only of yourself.  Instead, think of others as more important than yourself.  Do not take care only of your own needs, but also of the needs of others." - Philippians 2:3-4

For the past week, second graders have been learning about peace and service.  The Sign of Peace that we share at Mass reminds us that Jesus wants us to love one another and to live together in peace.  As members of the Church we are called to serve one another.  As part of this unit, students spent some time today serving other classes at ICSJ.  Some students helped organize classroom libraries while others wiped down desks.  Some students even helped clean the PreK window art with soap and water.  We are grateful to all of the teachers who helped us learn this valuable lesson, and we know they are grateful for the help.

Landmarks!

It was an exciting day in 2nd grade as the students worked busily to complete their model landmarks. We were amazed at their hard work and creative ideas. Here are some pictures of the fun!

Procession to Honor Mary

On Thursday, the 2nd graders went outside to partake in a procession to honor Mary. We learned about how other cultures honor Mary in the month of May and decided it would be nice to experience one of these celebrations ourselves. Here are some pictures from Room 204's procession.
