This week we have been busy learning how to organize and count coins. On Tuesday we used our iPads to review and preview concepts from this chapter. In stations we worked with a teacher to learn the new lesson, complete work book pages, watch an ipad lesson and took a test, and worked on an extension activity with our other teacher. The students were great listeners and worked hard at each station they visited. The teachers love to see students engaging in the lesson several different ways within a 60 minute center activity.
The second grade is working hard to understand different math concepts and practice explaining these concepts in our own words. On Wednesday we used the Show Me app. Students worked in groups to create a presentation that would explain how to count a group of coins to a first grader. In the coming weeks we will all work to explain our thinking in different subject areas.
