In Social Studies this week we learned all about the three types of communities. While the rest of the class worked on defining each community and drawing a matching picture, a few at a time we came back to look at these different communities on google maps.
We started out looking at our very own urban community and searched for N State St. Chicago. Next we headed out to the suburbs and looked at Miss Garcia's parents’ house in Indiana. Finally we traveled all the way down to Arkansas and looked at the rural community where Miss Malaney's sister lives. The students loved zooming in and out with their fingers and seeing the amazing details the satellite view gives us on the map. This center activity was a great way to make sure each student got a one on one experience, learning both from the ipad and about the ipad.
